What better way to get in the holiday spirit than a trip to the Pennsylvania countryside to choose and cut your own Christmas tree? Traipsing through the trees to find (and agree on) the perfect tree, then warming up with hot chocolate or cider afterward will make holiday memories for years to come. Remember, the Christmas tree you bring home from the country is environmentally friendly, too!
Bloomsburg is your perfect destination – you can enjoy the warmth of the Inn, Farmhouse and Brewing Co. at Turkey Hill all decked out in its holiday splendor, shop in Bloomsburg’s unique stores and galleries, and choose your tree at one of the “Choose and Cut Your Own” Christmas tree farms nearby. Bloomsburg Christmas Tree Farm and Ecology III Christmas Tree Farm both are 15 minutes or less from the Inn. If you’re also shopping for ornaments, try Kohl’s Stony Hill Tree Farm & Christmas Shoppe (a 25 minute drive). The farms provide everything you need for cutting down your tree: hand saw, measuring pole, and a way to wheel your tree out of the woods. You get the fun, and the tree farm does the work of drilling the hole for your tree stand, shaking, bailing, and even cutting your tree if you wish. Some farms also have pre-cut trees.
We’re counting the days until Christmas, so don’t wait to give us a call at the Inn, and start packing your bags. Be sure to bring warm, comfortable clothes and shoes, your camera/cell phone, a sheet of plastic or an old blanket, and bungee cords or rope to secure the tree to your car (more tips for your visit to a Christmas Tree farm).
