What’s Happening Near Bloomsburg, PA This Season?
Plenty, actually. Our little corner of the Susquehanna Valley turns into a holiday wonderland every November and December. We’ve rounded up the best of this year’s festivities below, from the biggest kickoff party to the coziest little market. Bookmark this list, because you’ll want to reference it more than once before the season wraps.
Winterfest & the Parade of Lights
Dates & Times: November 27, 10am – 8pm & November 28, 10am – 6pm Location: Bloomsburg Fairgrounds
The Friday after Thanksgiving kicks off with the Seven Mountains Media Parade of Lights — floats, lights, and Santa. Then, the parade rolls through downtown and lands at the fairgrounds for Winterfest.
Saturday morning starts early with the FA LA LA 5K. Then the fairgrounds fill with 200-plus craft vendors, wine, beer, and live music. It’s the unofficial starting gun for the season around here.
Knoebels Joy Through the Grove
Dates & Times: November 29 – December 31, nightly (closed Christmas Eve & Day) Location: 391 Knoebels Blvd, Rt 487, Elysburg, PA
Joy Through the Grove turns Knoebels into a two-mile drive-through light show. More than 500 illuminated pieces line the route, and a tune-in radio station plays holiday music the whole ride. Stay warm in the car, then park at the Christmas Village for s’mores and a visit with Santa. (Check back for ticket pricing later this year)
TreeFest
Dates: November 27 – December 6 (check the website for exact daily hours). Location: Caldwell Consistory, 150 North Market St, Bloomsburg, PA
TreeFest is one of our favorite local holiday events, and for good reason. Dozens of trees fill the Consistory, each one decorated by a local business or family. Themes range from silly to downright sentimental.
Expect live music, a Gingerbread House contest, and a couple of surprises revealed later. When the festival wraps, every tree and its decorations go home with a local family in need.
Danville Hometown Holiday Market
Dates & Times: November 20 – December 11 Location: Downtown Danville, PA
A short drive gets you to the Danville Hometown Holiday Market. This street fair is loaded with local crafters, seasonal treats, and live music. Vendors line Mill Street with handmade gifts, fresh greens, and gourmet coffees. Mill Street and Canal Park both get the full festive treatment, and there’s plenty for kids to do, too.
Berwick Christmas Boulevard
Dates & Times: Coming soon. Location: Berwick, PA
Market Street in nearby Berwick transforms into a mile-long tunnel of lights, dioramas, and Santa sightings. Christmas Boulevard has been a Berwick tradition since 1947.
Some visitors even walk the route before the cars come through. The vintage charm still shows in every hand-built display, and free chips at the end are a nice bonus.
Mifflinburg’s Christkindl Market
Dates: December 10–12 Location: Mifflinburg, PA (shuttle service available)
Inspired by a 700-year-old German tradition, Mifflinburg’s Christkindl Market is the oldest authentic outdoor German market in the country. Over 100 vendors set up shop in outdoor huts, selling handmade gifts and treats.
Sample apfelstrudel, schnitzel, German sausages, and mugs of hot spiced wine while you browse. Catch the Lantern Parade and the marionette shows while you’re there.
Our small-town Christmas is a cozy, comforting feeling that everyone deserves.
